Recently someone asked me, “who do I call, you or the caring committee?” Good question! The minister and caring committee work together in a shared ministry of care and compassion, but to be more clear, here is a helpful way to know who to call:
When to Call the Minister: Call me when you don’t know me, but would like to. When you have problems you would like to discuss-with your job, children, marriage, relationship or anything else where a sympathetic ear might be of help. When you’re going into the hospital or someone else in the church is. When someone close to you has died or is critically ill. When you are planning to be married. When you have a child to be dedicated. When you are planning a memorial service. When you are pregnant but wish you weren’t; when you aren’t and wish you were. When you are looking to foster or adopt. When you need support in claiming your truth. When you have a friend or neighbor who would like more information about the Unitarian Universalist faith. When you are considering joining the church. When you have suggestions to make about church programs. When you have suggestions for a sermon, or about the church service. When you would just like to visit or know someone else who’d like to. When you would like to help in committee work or teaching or just have a great idea. When there are community issues you would like to discuss. When you are mad at me. When you’d like to talk about religion or some other concerns or curiosities in your life.
Please know, I am never too busy for you. You are why I am a minister.
When to Call the Caring Committee: When an important life event happens we can send a greeting card to honor special birthdays and anniversaries, graduations, birth or adoption of a child, get well, or sympathy. When it is appropriate, we also arrange for cakes, flowers, special gatherings, and other expressions of care and support for members and friends. When you need transportation assistance, such as to medical appointments or treatments (local area, HMC or GMC), for grocery shopping, to attend UUFCC Sunday services or other UUFCC events. When someone dies, we facilitate memorial service receptions, including flowers, for our UUFCC members when requested. When you can’t, we can coordinate delivery of meals in the event of significant life events, such as serious illness, hospitalization, death of a partner or child, or birth of a child. We also record the Joys and Sorrows spoken at services, and follow-up on those that seem to need help or caring.

Ministerial Assessment Survey due Mar 18!
We are assessing some of the UUFCC ministries this spring. To get an accurate picture of what is working and how we can improve, we need everyone to complete our survey, which will take less than 10 minutes. We are also offering a prize drawing for completing the survey. The survey is anonymous. You will have the opportunity to provide your name after you submit the survey. The survey closes on March 18th. If you prefer doing it on paper, we'll have copies available on Sunday. Click here to reach the survey.
